Sandra S. Neels, 79, Silvis, IL passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Friendship Manor in Rock Island. There will be a rosary at 3:30 PM with a visitation following from 4-6:00 PM on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the church.
Sandy was born on March 31, 1944 to Fred and Bertha (Van Beveran) Hynd in Moline, IL. She graduated from Moline High School in 1962.
On May 9, 1964, she was united in marriage to John Neels at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. The couple made their home in Silvis and were active members of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Sandy spent her career as a client supervisor at ARC where she worked until retiring after over 20 years of service.
Sandy loved working in her yard, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She adored her pets, especially her beloved dog, Simba. Sandy will be remembered fondly for her giving nature as she helped everyone she knew-neighbors, friends, and family.
She is survived by her sisters, Jean Wilcox, Jackie Dowell, and Sally Teichman; sister-in-law, Shirley Hynd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; children, Robert and Tamera Neels; and siblings, Fred Hynd and Mary Rice.
