HAMPTON, Tenn. -- Sharon Lynn Hutton Iiames, 63, of Hampton, Tenn., died at her residence, Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Johnson City, Tenn. with the Rev. James Nipper and the Rev. Joseph Bolick officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehead Cemetery, Hampton, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Iiames to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. She was a native of Davenport, and a daughter of the late Art and Viola Menter Hutton. She had lived in Tennessee for 10 years. She was a graduate of Moline High School, and a graduate of Augustana College, Rock Island. She had taught school in the Davenport School System for 34 years.
She was an avid reader and a quilting artist. She was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Johnson City, Tenn.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Iiames; a daughter and son-in-law, Velinda and David Harley, Milton, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Christie Iiames, Lexington, Texas; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Chappelle and Michael Sims, both of Milton, Lance Iiames, and Mitchell Iiames, both of Pennsylvania; a niece, Kat Senft; aunts and uncles, Dorothy and Bob Menter, Elizabethton, Tenn., Zoe Menter, Norman and Sandra Menter and Norman Menter Jr., all of Phoenix, Ariz.
Sharon also established a Scholarship Fund at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois:
"Sharon L. Helgason Iiames Scholarship. Established by Sharon L. Helgason Iiames, class of 1966, in recognition of her Augustana education. To be awarded with preference given to women who are studying or are intending to study math or science."
