Donna Jean Ericson (Ronk)
Moline IL - Donna Jean Ericson (Ronk), 79, passed away unexpectedly at her home in the early morning of Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
She was born on November 27, 1944, in Moline, IL, to Earl and Elaine Ronk.
As a youth, Donna assisted in delivering newspapers with her older siblings. On weekends, she always had a whole house cleaning duty along with her sister, which she did not enjoy. She would rather be doing things with her brothers and Dad.
Donna graduated from Moline High School with the class of 1962 and enjoyed being a cheerleader for the Moline High School sports teams.
Donna married Michael Hillyer and later divorced. She raised her three children as a single mother until she married Robert L Ericson.
She was employed by John Deere Plow and Planter as a secretary. She received a corporate safety merit honor award for creating a safety standard. She also worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers and the Rock Island Arsenal. She scored in the top 5% on the Federal Application Exam.
Donna was dedicated to providing the greatest amount of love and care to her children. She never grew weary in giving and fighting for everything she could for her children. Her family was everything to her.
The happiest memories of her life were the traditional family trips to Minocqua, WI. She spent summer vacations on Tomahawk Lake, fishing, boating, swimming, and playing outside with her family. She purchased and restored the 100-year-old original log lodge that still sits on the water edge overlooking Tomahawk Lake for future generations. The Northwoods of Minocqua was her true home in her heart.
Donna is survived by her two brothers, Tom and Ted Ronk, daughter Tammy Kendall; daughter-in-law, Kammie Hillyer; two grandchildren, Taelar Spindler and Reid Hillyer; and a great-grandson Soren Spindler, 15 nephews and seven nieces. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Earl and Elaine Ronk; her sister, Sally Vaiana; her brothers, Jack and Jim Ronk; and her two sons, Anthony (Tony) and Chad Hillyer; and a niece, Diana Ronk.
