Mary Jane Sodeman (Unzicker Sinkule)

Mary Jane Sodeman (Unzicker Sinkule)

Jackie Wildermuth (nee: Sandler) reports that Mary Jane Sinkule (nee: Sodeman) has recently passed away.  Her son, Scott, provided this information via his Facebook page:

"Friends and family of Mary Jane - It's with deep sadness that I share the news of her passing this morning, July 28, at around 1:30am while receiving extraordinary care at Denton Medical City.

"This past Tuesday, the 22nd, Mom was at the movies with dear friends and experienced a massive aneurism as the credits rolled.  Through the quick, loving response of her campanions, she was in the ER within about 10 minutes, and, due to the severity of her situation, was in the OR very shortly afterwards.  She received the quickest posssible care, but due to the severity of her event, massive, catastrophic damage had already been done.

"After extensive consultation with medical personnel (she would have liked everyone who tended to her, especially the nurses), some deep soul-searching on my part, and an intimate knowledge of her wishes under such circumstances that she and I had discussed at length multiple times, I made the extraordinarily painful decision to cease curative care and begin palliative assistance Friday morning.  Her body fought with the strength we all admired in her, but she passed peacefully this morning.

"Aligning with her wishes (she wasn't one for spectacle), no service is planned.  She will be cremated and interred with her beloved Gary at a local Veterans' Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, I will set up a charitable fund in her honor, probably relating to animals, which she loved so very dearly.

"I will miss her more than I can possible express.

"Goodbye, Mom, and thank you.

"Scott Unzicker"

Wow....I feel bad.  Although she never forgot most of our birthdays, she never made any of the reunions so we could thank her for her kind words.  A good person, may she rest in peace.

MaryJane was a dear lady.  She, Jackie Sandler Wildermuth, and I would meet occasionally for lunch--all within a 30 mile radius of each other in Texas. She was a nurse for many years of her life---always taking care of others---and yes, Rick, birthday greetngs on this website were one of her thoughtful specialities.  Jackie and I will meet for lunch next week to celebrate such a kind, caring lady.
