David Ekstam, 53, Oglesby, Ill., died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, at home. Services are Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Oglesby. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Prey Funeral Home, Oglesby. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Ekstam was born Jan. 30, 1944, in Moline, to Jerome and Lillian Ekstam. He married Diana Cheatham Nov. 15, 1974. He was the proprietor of Ekstam Siding & Windows, Oglesby. Survivors include the widow; sons Darin J. Ekstam, Forest Park, Ill., and Damon, at home; daughters Dawn Ekstam, Peru, Ill., and Denise and Danielle Ekstam, both at home; his mother, Rock Island; sisters Linda Durkee, Bloomingdale, Ill., and Sally Welvaert, Moline; and brothers Jerome, Coal Valley, Kendall, Metamora, Ill., Dean, Morton, Ill., and Jeff, Champaign. He was preceded by his father and a sister.
I don’t think there is anyone who ever met Dave who doesn’t have a great story. He made life interesting and fun. When you were with Dave, you never had a dull moment. I will miss both Dave and Lou as we lived life everyday and always looked for ways to make each other laugh. We should have taken notes and sold the story to a movie producer

Yes David went to Lincoln. We had many good times at Lincoln. He lived just a block from school. He was certainly a fun individual even then! It is hard to believe that he died at such a young age... I am sure he is missed by his family and the friends that he made over the years....
